So who’s Nic Court we hear you say? A Vancouver Island boy, through-and-through, and a rider as close to a "surfer bro" as you can get in a mountain biker. Charging hard and squeezing the fun out of every inch of the trail, Nic’s style blends racing with new-school freeriding.

Nic’s creativity and approach to the trail is something we immediately spotted when his video, A Classic Duncan Edit, aired on Pinkbike last fall. Hucking everything and throwing backflips while thrashing hard at one of the best local zones on the island - Mount Prevost - we instantly reached out and the rest is history.

Without any expectations from us, it didn’t take long for Nic and filmmaker Liam Morgan to begin a creative process that involved cameras and mattocks alike, to showcase his new partners in crime and his box-fresh Druid XT. Cutting in a fresh trail for a video project sheds further light on Nic’s work ethic and creative drive, something that gets us pretty stoked and all the more thrilled to have him in the mix for 2021.

FBC: What’s up with the nickname; tapeworm?

Ha-ha, it’s because I eat lots and I’m very skinny.

I’m 23-years old.

I’m currently riding a 2021 Druid XT, size XL.

FBC: What do you do for a living?

I turn trees into pulp at Harmac Pulp Operations.

FBC: What kind of riding do you typically do?

Downhill and enduro.

FBC: What does your dream trail look like?

Steep fast and technical with some big floaty jumps at the bottom!

FBC: What kind of music do you listen to?

The Beatles.

FBC: The Beetles aren’t typically what kids your age are listening too, what’s up with that?

The Beatles have always been played through my family and their songs bring back great memories of hanging out with my family in the lake. I also just admire the diversity of the band and how they’ve created so many new sounds that people still play off of today to make new music

FBC: What does a typical day look like for Nic Court?

Papayas and granola for breakfast then ride till I fall. Dinner is definitely a large burrito. So basically, lots of food and riding.

FBC: How did you get into riding?

My father enjoyed many years on a bike and at a young age he introduced me to riding and I just fell in love with it

FBC: What would you say your strengths are?

I’d like to think I’m very social and love to meet new people on the trails.

FBC: What are your weaknesses?

Endurance and riding blind.

FBC: What are your plans for 2021?

I have some filming and building projects on my mind and I have always loved racing, which I hope to get into this upcoming season. I’m planning on competing in the local enduro races on the island and some nationals, and hopefully, more races, wherever they are, after that too!

FBC: Who or what inspires you?

Stevie Smith has always been my biggest source of inspiration. I was lucky enough to have the chance to meet and ride with him and he will continue to inspire me and so many others, #longlivechainsaw!
